Victory is ‘Sweet’ for Bettor Sweet in Final ‘Crown’ on the Night

TORONTO, ON— Bettor Sweet won the $500,000 Breeders Crown Open Pace in 1:48.4. Foiled Again finished second, We Will See was third and Atochia finished fourth.

Dial Or Nodial, Alexie Mattosie, Bettor Sweet and We Will See all left the wings of the gate with speed. Dial Or Nodial took the lead and took the field by the quarter in :25.4. Alexie Mattosie was first over in second and Bettor Sweet was in third.

Alexie Mattosie cleared the lead down the backstretch, with Dial Or Nodial sitting in second and Bettor Sweet third. Bettor Sweet came out of the pocket and supplied cover to We Will See and Foiled Again at the half in :53.3 (:27.4).

Bettor Sweet took the lead around the far turn. Alexie Mattosie was at the rail in second and and We Will See was second over in third. Dial Or Nodial was shuffled into fourth. Bettor Sweet took the field by three-quarters in 1:21.4 (:28.1).

Bettor Sweet had the lead in the stretch. Foiled Again and We Will See came off cover and approached Bettor Sweet. Foiled Again and We Will See were neck and neck coming after Bettor Sweet approaching the wire. But Bettor Sweet was dead game and he held on to win. Foiled Again finished second, We Will See was third and Atochia came from the back of the field to finish fourth.

Bettor Sweet is a six-year-old gelding by Bettor’s Delight out of the mare Sweet Future by Falcons Future. He has earned $590,515 in 2011. He was bred by Uptown Stables. He is owned by John Cancelliere, trained by Thomas Cancelliere and John Campbell was in the sulky.
