The ‘Golden Boy’ Wins Back-to-Back Presidential Finals

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Golden Receiver made history Saturday night, where he became the second horse to win back-to-back Presidential finals in 1:49.3. Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Mr Hasani N and Golden Receiver gunned for the lead heading into the first turn. Fred And Ginger got away third and Dial Or Nodial was back in fourth. Mr Hasani N parked Golden Receiver by the quarter in :25.3. Golden Receiver retreated to second entering the backstretch and Fred And Ginger was sealing the gap in third. Approaching the half, Mr Hasani N made a break and forced Dial Or Nodial and Modern Legend to go wide down the backside. Dial Or Nodial came back and was up to Tetrick’s wheel at the half in :54.1 (:28.3).

Into the far turn, Golden Receiver led the way, with Dial Or Nodial battling in second. Fred And Ginger was locked in the pocket third and Modern Legend was rallying three wide in fourth. Golden Receiver took them by three-quarters in 1:22.4 (:28.3).

Golden Receiver led a bundled field into the stretch. Fred And Ginger found room up the rail and Dial Or Nodial was giving chase. Malak Uswaad N had tracked cover, but had no room to pace. Versado was closing down the far outside after sitting far off the pace. Entering the eighth pole, Golden Receiver kicked away from the field and won the Presidential final with ease in 1:49.3 (:26.4). Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Golden Receiver ($2.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick
guided the horse to a series-sweeping performance.

“After that first half, that’s pretty big into the wind like that, into the middle of the lane he kicked away from the field and simply amazed me,” driver Tim Tetrick said.

TRI’s Picks January 26 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Saturday, January 26, 2013

Last night’s winners helped us make up for our slump we had since the beginning of the year. We had two winners last night, both of which should have been bet because they were 4-1 and up. The two winners were Photo King ($18.40) and Asset Management ($49.80). Those two horses brought us from being down $53.60 this year to being down $18.40 for the year! Goes to show why you should bet the horses on these tickets to win above or at 4-1. Tonight’s ticket looks as good as last night’s. Good luck to all!

$2 Play: 1,4/1,6/4/3 = $8

Analysis:

Race 7- (1) Mystic Desire is coming off a horrible trip against this group last week. He was first over through fast fractions and didn’t see the pylons for the entire mile. He draws the rail this week, so he should have an easier time clearing the top, but will also have to sustain challenges from the field. Worse comes to worse, he loses the top and will have to rally after being shuffled back, which he should be able to accomplish. (4) Mcclelland dueled with Mystic Desire for the lead through ridiculous fractions last week. He worked through a :26.2 quarter to clear the top, then dueled with Mystic Desire through a :53.3 half (:27.1), followed by re-taking the lead at three-quarters in 1:21.4 (:28.1). He was quitting from there because of having to work hard and fight for the top. It was unusual to see him take the lead, since his racing habits show him as a horse that sits mid-pack. He may return to that way of racing and close off cover like he usually did at Dover.

Race 8-
(1) The Pokester steps up into A-2 company after winning easily against B-1 horses last week. In that mile, he rode cover and tipped wide into the stretch, passing rivals and sprinting home in :27.2. The rail will help him get a spot into the mile and he will likely be positioned to pull the same move he did last week on this competitive bunch. (6) Woodstock Hanover ships in from Dover after being a menace in the Preferred and Open ranks at the Delaware oval. In his last effort, he rode cover into the stretch, where he closed and finished third in 1:50.3. This horse generally sits off the pace, but should be close to it this week, where if he gets cover, he’ll have tons of speed left into the stretch.

Race 9- (4) Eastend Eddie is coming off of a monstrous mile in his first race off a layoff last week. From post 10, he got away mid-pack, then made a big move at the half to clear the lead. He cleared the lead, but lost it quick due to burning out by three-quarters. He gets post relief this week and should be somewhere mid-pack, waiting to get cover and ride that for most of the mile. He should improve in his second start off the bench as well.

Race 10- (3) Yo Cheyenne Rocky is stepping down off a bad effort from post 10 in the Clyde Hirt. Before that, he was shuffled and rebounded to finish second to One Through Ten in a non-winners of three races event. He is a classy pacer that has gone against better than this field. Tonight, he should be close to the pace and find room into the stretch to pull off a minor upset.

TRI’s Picks January 25 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Friday, January 25, 2013

Last week, we came so close to hitting the Pick 4 after traveling so far. Our single in the last, Go Go Raider, didn’t even attempt to get into the mile and was given an awful drive in the 12-horse field. So far, we are down $53.60 for the year, so we should be able to easily make that up with a winning ticket. Tonight’s ticket looks promising, good luck!

$2 Play: 3,4,9/3,7/4/5 = $12

Analysis:

Race 7- (3) Waldorf Hall has been a fierce foe in the A-2 trot the last few weeks. His last two tries in the group resulted in a win and a close second in the slop. He gets post relief and should sit close to the pace, where he can close into the stretch and pull off a minor upset. (4) Photo King is being given a second chance after that break last week. He should be able to get a pocket trip this week and close into the stretch. He’ll likely be a higher price due to the miscue he made last week. (9) My Leap Of Faith improves every time he steps up. He should try to leave the gate fast so he isn’t far off the pace and sit a second over trip and fan into the stretch, where he will fly by the field.

Race 8- (3) Rock Ann Rolling is shipping in from the conditioned ranks at Woodbine. In her last effort, she came first over in a move to try and take the lead, but was caught wide through a fast third quarter and quit. She should be forwardly placed this week and sit a good trip to be able to pull off a minor upset. (7) Asset Management has done very well down at Dover, though her lines don’t show it. In her lines, it shows her riding the rail for most of the mile and the passing lane at Dover is often dead. She should race much better at the Big M, where she’ll likely get a covered trip and perhaps blow out this Pick 4.

Race 9-
(4) In Your Room is in the perfect spot to upset. Though he shows a mistake in his lines, he should improve really well tonight. He gets post relief and likes to leave the gate, so he’ll likely get a pocket trip. Remember, Simons pulled off a 50-1 upset with a pocket trip with a horse named All About Justice at the beginning of the meet, so it’s likely he’ll pull that same move again with this speedy leaver.

Race 10- (5) Emily Do is coming off an okay effort against bottom level trotters at the Big M. She finished a distant second to Boinga in that mile, but should improve with post relief this week. She also left the gate fast, which means she could get a pocket trip here and in this race, that’s the only way she can win.

TRI’s Picks January 19 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Saturday, January 19, 2013

Last night, we had one winner, but it wasn’t a bet, My Leap Of Faith ($8.40). Tonight’s ticket looks more profitable and has a great shot. Remember to bet any horse on this ticket that is 4-1 or up. Good luck!

$2 Play: 3,10/8/2,4,5/2 = $12

Analysis:

Race 7- (3) The Pokester is coming off of a two-wide mile against this group last week. He gets slight post relief tonight and should be placed closer to the lead, where he can use his closing kick to his advantage. (10) Cheyenne Knight is one of two bombers in tonight’s Pick 4. He steps down after going against the best last week in the A-1 and A-2 categories. He kept pace with them and finished towards the rear. This group should be more appropriate for him and he may attempt to leave for the lead, but wherever he gets placed, he’ll be flying through the stretch with some sort of shot.

Race 8- (8) Recent News is stepping up off of an impressive effort last week. He sat far off the pace and closed hard within a quarter of a mile to just miss the victory. He should be closer to the pace this week, since there is not much speed in this group. He can then use his closing kick and win this mile for fun.

Race 9-
(2) Lettherockbegin paced a two-wide mile against this group last week. He closed, but others had more than him through the stretch. He gets post relief this week and should have an easier time closing in the stretch. (4) Mussfrmbrussels comes back off a scratch from illness. Before that, he slid up the pylons to finish fifth with more pace to offer after the wire. He gets post relief and should not be stuck at the cones and should not have to slide up the pylons. (5) Lawgiver Hanover tried to close last week. Though he did do well, I expect him to show some speed tonight. Since there is little speed in this race, he could easily take this field wire-to-wire.

Race 10- (2) Go Go Raider steps up off of a tough mile against $10,000 Claimers. From post 10, he took the lead while being three wide through a quarter of :27. He began to falter after that, which is reasonable. The post relief will be useful and the hike in class will be minuscule  He should attempt to sit a pocket trip and make a slingshot move into the stretch.

TRI’s Picks January 18 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Friday, January 18, 2013

We return with our Pick 4 after a week off for rest and other business to attend. We are confident about tonight’s ticket and remind you to play any horse on this ticket that is 4-1 or up. Good luck!

$2 Play: 3,8/1,2/5/6 = $8

Analysis:

Race 7-
(3) Photo King is returning off of a brief layoff. He worked hard from post 10 and took the lead from the quarter. That strong move made him quit and he faltered at the end of the mile. He gets post relief tonight and should try to take the lead or sit the pocket. (8) Tac’s Delight is the classiest horse in the field. He’s done very well against Open class horses at Harrah’s Philadelphia and Saratoga. Although he draws post 8, he should sit off the pace and close late in the mile.

Race 8- (1) Miss Sand Creek gets post relief this week. She was caught first over for the entire mile last week on the slop. Tonight’s track looks to be fast and since she draws the rail, she should be close to the pace and be able to make a late move to win. (2) Dragon Princess is the likely favorite and one to beat in here. Drawing the second-tier in her last start, she followed cover the entire mile and closed to finish second against a 12-horse field. Post 2 makes her a threat as she will sit closer to the pace and won’t have to recover as much ground as she had to a few weeks ago.

Race 9-
(5) My Leap Of Faith is stepping up after an impressive win last week in the slop. He should get off the gate faster this week and will have less ground to make up, giving him a better chance of winning.

Race 10- (6) Memumsnotnice is fast off the gate. She will likely get away second or third in the pocket, which is the trip a horse needs in a 12-horse field. As long as she doesn’t sprint by the quarter in sub-:27, she should have something left for the stretch drive.

Speedy Miles in First Preliminary of Presidential

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Two divisions of Free-For-All pacing action kicked off the first leg of the Presidential series at the Meadowlands on Saturday, January 12. The January classic drew 13 pacers to the two $40,000 divisions.

Golden Receiver continues his bid for a Presidential repeat, taking the opening division gate to wire in 1:49, Fred And Ginger was second, Modern Legend was third and Malak Uswaad N was fourth.

Golden Receiver took the lead, with Modern Legend in the pocket second and Meirs Hanover settling into third. Golden Receiver led the field by the quarter in :26.3. No one challenged the leader, letting him squeeze in a breather of :55.2 (:28.4) at the half-mile.

Meirs Hanover lunged into attack mode, swinging first over into the far turn. Fred And Ginger tracked his cover and Modern Legend was locked in the box. Golden Receiver began to pick up the pace at three-quarters in 1:23 (:27.3).

Golden Receiver winning his Presidential split in 1:49
Meirs Hanover began to quit heading down the stretch. Fred And Ginger fanned off cover and Modern Legend was stalling in third. Golden Receiver held all competition at bay, winning the first leg of the Presidential in 1:49 (:26). Fred And Ginger rallied for second, Modern Legend held on for third and Malak Uswaad N inherited the fourth spot. Abelard Hanover scratched out of the mile sick.

Golden Receiver ($2.20) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick was in the bike, steering the ‘Golden Boy’ to a 1:49 performance.

Versado pulled off the upset in the second division of the Presidential, winning his division in 1:49.4. Dial Or Nodial finished second, Mr Hasani N was third and Rockin The House was fourth.

Versado took the front from Rockin The House into the first turn. Nob Hill High got away third and Second Wind N got away fourth. Versado took them by the quarter in :26.2. Dial Or Nodial came first over from sixth passing the three-eighths. Mr Hasani N tracked his cover as they brushed by competition. Dial Or Nodial was first over in third at the half in :54.3 (:28.1).

Versado nipping favorite Dial Or Nodial at the wire in 1:49.4
Into the far turn, Dial Or Nodial inched up to Versado’s wheel, carrying Mr Hasani N and Annieswesterncard closer. Versado led at three-quarters in 1:22.3 (:28). Mr Hasani N fanned off cover and began to flatten out. Rockin The House was trying to pace up the inside and Dial Or Nodial was still chasing Versado. Versado and Dial Or Nodial were stride for stride entering the sixteenth pole and Versado nipped the favorite at the line in 1:49.4 (:27.1). Dial Or Nodial was second, Mr Hasani N was third and Rockin The House finished fourth.

Versado ($18.40) is a six-year-old gelding by Dragon Again, out of the mare Beach Jenny by Beach Towel. He is owned by Kdm Stables, trained by Nick Surick and Andy Miller was in the bike to score in 1:49.4.

Golden Receiver Sprints Home to Win Presidential Prep; Eyes Repeat in Series

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— The Harder-trained free-for-all pacer Golden Receiver took the field gate to wire to win the $30,000 Free For All pace at the Meadowlands on Saturday, January 5 in 1:48.4.

Golden Receiver gunned for the lead, with Meirs Hanover showing speed towards the inside and Special T Rocks wanted a spot from the far outside. Golden Receiver led the field by the quarter in :26.4.

Special T Rocks fought on to try and take the top from Golden Receiver, caught first over, but began to falter approaching the half-mile pole. Dial Or Nodial was tracking his cover and was forced three wide, while Silent Swing was keeping up with the trio on top at the half in :54.4 (:28).

Into the far turn, Dial Or Nodial paced up to Golden Receiver’s wheel, while Meirs Hanover drafted in the pocket third. Silent Swing was attempting to start a rally at three-quarters in 1:23 (:28.1).

Golden Receiver had to fight off Dial Or Nodial and Meirs Hanover swinging into the stretch. Dial Or Nodial began to flatten out entering the eighth pole, while Meirs Hanover was keeping pace in third and Silent Swing trying to catch up in fourth. Golden Receiver instantly kicked away from the field and romped the field in 1:48.4 (:25.4). Meirs Hanover finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Silent Swing finished fourth.

Golden Receiver ($3.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick did the piloting, steering the veteran pacer to a 1:48.4 victory.

Out of the Free For All feature, Meirs Hanover, Dial Or Nodial, Abelard Hanover, Nob Hill High, Hypnotic Blue Chip and Special T Rocks are all eligible for the Presidential series. Annieswesterncard is also on the eligibility list, though scratched out of the feature.

TRI’s Picks January 5 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Saturday, January 5, 2013

Last night, we had two of four in the Pick 4 and one of the winners was a bet to win, Heres My Ticket returned $30.80 to win. Our other winner, Hot List, was under 4-1, so she was not a bet. If you bet with us all year so far, you would be down $34.80. Our luck will turn around tonight as we have many value plays on our ticket. Good luck!

$2 Play: 2,7/1,4/4/4,11 = $16

Analysis:

Race 7- (2) Sir Ziggy’s Z Tam raced well in his first start off of a short layoff. He closed from far off the pace through fast fractions to finish third with a final quarter of :27.4. He should be closer to the pace this week and also improve in his second start off a short layoff. (7) Musselsfrmbrussels had a horrible trip last week, yet still raced fantastic. He got away in the back of the field and was locked at the pylons for the entire mile, but he squeezed through rivals up the inside to finish fifth. He won’t be stuck in a bind like that again this week, but may leave for the lead or try and sit back and find cover to ride on until it’s time to use his late kick into the stretch.

Race 8-
(1) Saywhatuneedtosay also got a bad trip being locked at the pylons last week. He tried his best to keep up with the leader Mystic Desire, but had shaken loose too late and the leader had drawn away from the field. This horse can close fast when needed and should not get a trip like he did last week, but perhaps a good second or third over mile is what I expect from him. (4) Esprit De Kayjay A is the likely favorite in this event. He was caught wide for the entire mile and fought on to win against $25,000 Claimers. He won’t get a trip like that this week, but he does step up and may take the lead or try to get a pocket trip to emerge victorious again.

Race 9-
(4) Mighty Young Joe made a hell of a strong effort to close last week against fast fractions. This effort could have also been affected due to it being his first start on lasix. He is now second time lasix this week and I expect a similar effort to last week’s, but he will be closer to the pace and will have an easier time closing.

Race 10-
(4) Shaws Creek Buff paced a first over mile last week and he had to settle for second. He goes against a 12-horse field this week, so I expect him to try and get away fast and perhaps take the lead. If he takes the lead by the quarter, challengers will likely pass him and he will be shuffled to second or third, a perfect spot to turn into the stretch and begin the pursuit to the winners circle. I don’t think he will be much of a long shot in this event, but he will be the horse that if needed, will cap this Pick 4 with a favorite. (11) Cruising Yankee looked like a menace on paper. In his last three starts, he raced from post 8 at Harrah’s Philadelphia and in one effort he won. What also makes him a threat is that he is first time lasix tonight. He will have to maneuver past the first tier to get a good spot and perhaps the horse in front of him, Fancy Footwork, will leave for the lead and give Kakaley a chance to get a spot in the middle of the pack. He is the bomber on this ticket that will make us the only winners.

TRI’s Picks January 4 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Friday, January 4, 2013

Last night, we had one winner that was not a bet, Ccs Lover N ($3.80). Tonight’s ticket is a little cheaper than last nights and is filled with value plays. Remember to bet horses that are 4-1 or up approaching post time. Good luck!

$2 Play: 1,4/4/3,5/2 = $8

Analysis:

Race 7- (1) Lucky Roll is shipping in from Harrah’s Philadelphia, where he raced against the top company and did fairly well. He’ll likely leave for a pocket spot since he has the rail and will look for room to trot into the stretch. (4) Don’t Know Chip is coming off of a tough mile against this company last week. He made a first over move entering the far turn and took a short lead in the middle of the stretch until All About Justice snuck up the rail and pulled off the major upset. He should be fresh as he races for the second time off of his layoff and I expect a victory from him tonight.

Race 8-
(4) Hot List has worked her way up the class chain at Yonkers and won against non-winners of $25,000 last six in her last start at Yonkers before romping at Saratoga in an optional claimer. She shows a ton of gate speed and should be able to take this field gate to wire this week.

Race 9-
(3) Sea Raven is coming off of an impressive effort against this company, where he was locked at the pylons and stormed down the center of the racetrack in an attempt to catch The Budster strolling to the finish. That was in a race where there was no pace, whatsoever. There will be some kind of pace tonight and Sea Raven will likely sit mid-pack and pull the same move he did last week, except could emerge victorious. (5) Zooming also is a good closer that is shipping in from Yonkers. Before he drew the outside posts at Yonkers, he did really well against the top company; challenging the leaders and closing from mid-pack. He will likely be in the same spot as Sea Raven, but will try to go second or first over to win this event.

Race 10- (2) Heres My Ticket showed a ton of speed last week. She was caught first over through a :26.3 opening quarter and was forced to drop into a pocket. Burnt out from a blistering first quarter, she quit and faded to fifth. Since there is not a ton of speed from the inside, she should get the top easily and slower than last time. She can save her speed and storm for home at the three-quarters.

TRI’s Picks January 3 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Thursday, January 3, 2013

On Saturday, we had one winner, Sonic Raider ($20.60). By betting horses to win on the ticket that are 4-1 and up, we would be down $18 for the meet. Thursday’s ticket looks fairly promising, good luck!

$2 Play: 9/1,2,6/7,10/6 = $12

Analysis:

Race 7-
(9) Dragon King is a fairly good closer. In a race where there is plenty of speed form the inside, Miller will likely place his pacer in the middle of the pack and should find some cover to ride into the far turn. From there, he will have something left to close into the stretch.

Race 8- (1) El Bravo is coming off of a decent qualifier after taking a month off from racing. Before his layoff, he raced against conditioned claimers at Saratoga and did well, despite drawing the far outside posts. He gets post relief this week and should launch off the gate and have some say in the pace. (2) Michael’s Marvel has shown three valiant efforts against similar company at Harrah’s Philadelphia. His last start was his best, where from post 8 he was caught first over and challenged the leader until he quit. Before that, he had a win and a second against $10,000 Claimers. He draws post 2 this week, which should help him get a pocket trip and will have something left late. (6) Ccs Lover N is coming off of a strong 1:54.1 qualifier at the Meadowlands. In his last effort against $10,000 Claimers, he traveled a tough first over mile to finish second as the favorite. A short layoff should make this horse fresh and ready to race tonight.

Race 9-
(7) Jedrik Hanover is aggressive in every start. He can either stick with the pace and close into the stretch or sit off the pace and rush for home. There isn’t too much speed in this race, so expect him to leave and try to steal the mile. Either way, he’s going to give us a run for our money, as he will have something left into the stretch. (10) Get Chipped is a longshot play in our ticket. He has shown improvement since the addition of hopples were made in his equipment. He had trouble staying flat before the equipment change, but is coming off of a victory in his first race with hopples. He should attempt to take advantage of a slight closing bias at the Meadowlands, sit off of the pace and storm into the stretch like he did at Monticello against conditioned company.

Race 10- (6) Terror Rising has been a major menace against optional claimers at Saratoga during the winter. She drops into an easier company this week and will likely attempt to dictate the pace like she usually does. She won’t have much problems doing so, since there isn’t much pace in the race. Expect her to be a value bet as well.
