Iron Lady Wins Narrowly in Final Sophomore Filly Trot Elim

TORONTO, ON— Iron Lady closed out the sophomore filly trot Breeders Crown Elims at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday, October 22. Hey Mister finished second, Cleopatre Duharas was third, Eagle Canada was fourth and Pantholops was fifth. These five proceed to next week’s final.

Pantholops broke as the wings of the gate opened. Magic Wheel went for the lead, with Iron Lady sitting in second and E L Glamour in third. Magic Wheel took them by the opening quarter in :28.

At the three-eighths, Lady Rainbow came first over from fourth and was neck and neck with Magic Wheel at the half in :58.2 (:30.2). Joe Hudon Jr. pulled the plugs on Magic Wheel around the far turn and Lady Rainbow went off stride. Hey Mister came first over, with Eagle Canada and Cleopatre Duharas following. Magic Wheel took the field by three-quarters in 1:26.4.

Magic Wheel was fading fast at the top of the stretch. Iron Lady and Hey Mister blew past her and dueled to the wire. Iron Lady rode the pylons and got her neck in front to beat Hey Mister. Cleopatre Duharas was third, Eagle Canada was fourth and Pantholops was closing hard to finish fifth.
