Uncle Peter Surprises in ‘Crown’

TORONTO, ON—Uncle Peter won the $600,000 Breeders Crown Two-Year-Old Colt Trot in 1:55, paying $11.40 to win. Possess The Will finished second, Delano was third, Presdigitator was fourth and Royal Shyster was fifth.

Royal Shyster left the gate with speed. He took the field by the quarter in :27.3. Uncle Peter sat in second and American Gangster was in third. Possess The Will was first over in fourth.

Uncle Peter came first over and cleared the lead. Possess The Will was first over and took the lead from Uncle Peter. Possess The Will took them by the half in :56.4 (:29.1). Magic Tonight was first over in fourth.

There was no change in order at three-quarters in 1:25.2 (:28.3). Possess The Will had the lead in the stretch. Uncle Peter came onto the outside and Delano came from the back of the field closing hard. Uncle Peter was clear and Uncle Peter won. Possess The Will finished second, Delano was third, Presdigitator was fourth and Royal Shyster was fifth.

Uncle Peter is a two-year-old colt by Cantab Hall out of the mare Victory Treasure by Enjoy Lavec. He has earned $46,785 in his lifetime. He was bred by Johanna Beaver, Mike Carter, Mary Mc Laughlin and Sigmund Wolkomir. He is owned by Christina Takter, John & Jim Fielding and Falkbolagen Ab, trained by Jimmy Takter and Dave Palone was in the bike.

“He was a perfect horse to drive. Jimmy informed me this afternoon that he wasn’t going to make and told me I was going to love him. He’s got a good mouth and you can do anything you want with him. He thought he was going to be extra good tonight. Kudos to him, he had him on his toes,” driver Dave Palone said.
