Frenchfriesnvinegar Says “Bye” to Action-Broadway in Tight Finish

TORONTO, ON— Frenchfriesnvinegar won the $300,000 Breeders Crown Mare Trot in 1:53.3, paying $10.60. Action-Broadway finished second, Autumn Escapade finished third, Emmylou Who was fourth and Friendly Amigo was fifth.

Yursa Hanover, Emmylou Who, Autumn Escapade and Friendly Amigo all left the gate fast. Autumn Escapade was first over and moved into third at the quarter in :27. Autumn Escapade cleared the lead at the three-eighths. Action-Broadway came first over from fifth and was wheel to wheel with Friendly Amigo [in second] at the half. Action-Broadway cleared the lead at the half in :56.4 (:29.4).

Action-Broadway lead the way around the far turn. Frenchfriesnvinegar followed her and dueled with Action-Broadway coming to three-quarters in 1:24.4 (:28).

Action-Broadway had a narrow lead coming into the stretch. Frenchfriesnvinegar had rally and came closer and closer to Action-Broadway coming to the finish. Autumn Escapade sat behind them in third. Frenchfriesnvinegar was clear. She won, with Action-Broadway finishing second, Autumn Escapade was third, Emmylou Who was fourth and Friendly Amigo was fifth.

Frenchfriesnvinegar is a six-year-old mare by Angus Hall out of the mare Gugus by Fool Me Not. She has $201,240 this year and seven of 24 starts. She is bred by Big Al Stables Inc. and owned by David Smith. She is trained by Jeffrey Gillis and Jody Jamieson was in the bike to his second Breeders Crown victory in 1:53.3.   

“I obviously wasn’t expecting her to draw the 10 hole, but Jody gave him a perfect second over trip. She will not quit,” trainer Jeff Gillis said.

“We’ve rolled her every time we raced her [Frenchfriesnvinegar]. We thought she was one- dimensional [She races the same]. This mare just dug in and has been an overachiever all year,” driver Jody Jamieson said.
