Indiana Features Grand Circuit Action

On Wednesday, August 24, 12 two-year-old trotting filly Breeders Crown eligibles competed in the $210,000 Kentuckiana at Indiana Downs. Indiana Downs also featured in the $215,000 Pride In Progress for free for all trotters, six of whom are Breeders Crown eligibles. Also on Wednesday, Pocono Downs featured the $239,786 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes for two-year-old colt pacers.

In the first Kentuckiana, Win Missy B (Conway Hall) won, with Aunt Mel (Yankee Glide) finishing second and Canadian Justice was third. “Justice” went for the lead, with “Missy” in second and On The Bright Side (Cantab Hall) in third. Quarentine S (Varenne) and Friendly Persuader (Muscles Yankee) both broke at the start. Missy came onto the outside and cleared the lead from Justice at the quarter in :29.

“Bright” came first over down the backstretch from third. Bright and Missy were neck to neck at the half in :57. (:28). They were 2 lengths ahead of Justice sitting in third. Around the far turn, Bright stuck her head in front of Missy and went off stride. Sterling Volo (Donato Hanover) broke in the back of the field. Missy trotted by three-quarters in 1:26.3 (:29.3).

Missy had the lead at the top of the stretch, Mel came onto the outside in second and Justice was in third. Missy and Mel dueled coming to the eighth pole, Justice dropped out of the race in third. Missy did not give up the lead and crossed the wire in 1:56.1 (:29.3). Aunt Mel finished second, Canadian Justice was third and Sterling Volo finished fourth.

In the second Kentuckiana, Chilitodayhotamale (Muscles Yankee) was vicotorious, with Dream On Hanover (Andover Hall) finished second and Personal Style (Yankee Glide) was third. Hope And Love (Muscles Yankee) and Blue Muscles (Muscles Yankee) both left for the lead, with “Dream” in third and “Personal” in fourth. Winning Sissy (Angus Hall) made a break at the gate. Muscles took the lead at the quarter in :27.4.

Down the backstretch, Muscles went on a break and “Love” inherited the lead. Dream came first over and cleared the front at the half in :57.2 (:29.3). Love was in second and Personal was in third. Around the far turn, Dream drew off by about 2 lengths. Love went on a break, so Personal took second and “Tamale” was in third. Dream had a 6 length lead at three-quarters in 1:26.2 (:29).

Dream was being narrowed in by Personal and Tamale at the top of the stretch. Personal circled out two wide and Tamale came out three wide. It was a three horse race to the wire at the eighth pole. Personal gave way, so Tamale and Dream dueled to the wire. Tamale under a hand ride won by 1 ¼ lengths in 1:56.2 (:30). Dream On Hanover was second and Personal Style was third. Blue Muscles, Hope And Love and Winning Sissy were fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.  

In the Pride In Progress, Il Villaggio (Yankee Glide) won, with Hot Shot Blue Chip (Revenue S) finishing second and All Cantab (Cantab Hall) was third. Arch Madness (Balanced Image), “Cantab” and Lucky Jim (SJ’s Photo) all left the gate with speed. Rembrendt Spur (Pegasus Spur) went off stride at the start. Around the first turn, “Jim” went off stride. “Madness” had the front heading to the quarter. Cantab was in second and about 5 to 6 lengths back to “Shot” in third. Madness trotted the quarter in :26.3.

Madness had the lead at the half in :54.3 (:28). Shot was in third and “Villaggio” was in fourth. Around the far turn, Madness had the lead, with Cantab in second and Villaggio first over in third. Shot was buried at the inside in fourth. Villaggio cleared the lead at three-quarters in 1:23.1 (:28.3).

Villaggio was not challenged in the stretch. Madness was fading at the inside. Shot came on with late trot in second and Cantab was in third. Villaggio had a 4 ¼ lengths lead at the wire and trotted the mile in 1:53. Hot Shot Blue Chip finished second and All Cantab finished third. Arch Madness, Lucky Jim and Rembrendt Spur finished seventh, eighth and tenth, respectively.

In the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, seven two-year-old colt pacers are eligible for the Breeders Crown.

In the first division, All Week was victorious, with Mc Attaboy finishing second, Marytime Terror (Western Terror) finished third and Station Threeohsix (Western Terror) finished fourth. “Marytime” sat mid-pack and made no move. “Station” got cover from “Week” and faded to fourth.

In the second division, Easy Again held off Sweet Lou (Yankee Cruiser) to win, with Mudslide third and Hillbilly Hanover (Dragon Again) finished fourth. “Lou” cleared the lead with one lap to go, but got passed by “Again” and lost by a nose. “Hillbilly” had the lead at the quarter and got shuffled back. He made no move to finish fourth. Friday At Five (Real Desire) sat in sixth and was able to finish fifth.

In the final division, Star Recruit won, with Cold Heared Shark (Four Starzzz Shark) finished second, The Zachhammer was third and Acrylic Hanover (Dragon Again) finished fourth. “Shark” sat in sixth. He came first over at three-quarters and lost by a neck to Star Recruit. “Acrylic” sat in fifth. He picked up cover from Shark and finished fourth.
