A Rocknroll Dance Sat Behind “Battle” to Romp in Lake Erie Final

NORTHFIELD,OH— A Rocknroll Dance got away in the pocket behind race leader Aracache Hanover while he battled with State Treasurer through unheard-of fractions, eventually pulling the pocket and striding away from everyone to win the $120,500 Battle of Lake Erie final in a world record 1:49.1.

Aracache Hanover left the gate and got the front, while A Rocknroll Dance tucked into second and Foiled Again in third. State Treasurer was wide into the turn and, with nowhere to settle, was sent for the front. Aracache Hanover parked him out by the quarter in :26.1. State Treasurer nearly cleared the lead in the front straightaway, but Aracache Hanover was game to holding dictation. The two continued the war passed the half in :53 (:26.4).

A Rocknroll Dance was in the pocket behind the battlers entering the backstretch. Foiled Again began tracking the cover of State Treasurer heading to three-quarters, with Thinking Out Loud pacing third over. Thinking Out Loud fanned three wide and Clear Vision followed him from the cones. Aracache Hanover had won the fight with State Treasurer at three-quarters in 1:21 (:28). State Treasurer soon went off-stride around the turn, interfering with Foiled Again.

A Rocknroll Dance had open road at the head of the stretch and, thanks to the speed-duel on the lead, cleared the lead with ease. Rockin Finish rode the pylons and took over second, with Clear Vision flying down the center of the track into third, but A Rocknroll Dance was 4 lengths clear of the lot at the wire, stopping the clock in a track and world record of 1:49.1 (:28.1).  

A Rocknroll Dance ($9.80) is owned by A Rocknroll Dance Stables, trained by Jim Mulinix and was driven by Kayne Kauffman. The son of Rocknroll Hanover has surpassed the $2-million plateau in his second win of the season.  

Sunfire Blue Chip and Lonewolf Currier at Top Form in Adios Eliminations

WASHINGTON, PA— The Grand Circuit made it’s annual visit to The Meadows, where two eliminations for the Delvin Miller Adios were contested on Saturday night.

Sunfire Blue Chip made his move to the front the first time in the stretch, fighting off all challengers up until the wire, taking the first Adios elimination in 1:50.3.

Some Kinda Beach was sent to the front and was parked out by Sunfire Blue Chip to the quarter. Evenin Of Pleasure got away in third and Martini Hanover was pacing fourth passed the first quarter in :26.3. Dave Palone brought Sunfire Blue Chip out of the pocket and brushed to the top passing the three-eighths pole. Word Power was looking for cover in fifth, Martini Hanover flushed out and zeroed-in on leader Sunfire Blue Chip at the half in :55 (:28.2).

Martini Hanover applied pressure to Sunfire Blue Chip down the backstretch. Word Power was stalking the battlers second over, while Some Kinda Beach got a pocket ride heading to three-quarters. Sunfire Blue Chip was still on top at three-quarters in 1:22.2 (:27.2). Martini Hanover was faltering, forcing Word Power to go three wide. Some Kinda Beach was struggling for racing room and eventually got out of the pocket entering the stretch. Sunfire Blue Chip still had the lead, Word Power was flying down the center of the track, but Sunfire Blue Chip got to the wire first by a nose in 1:50.3 (:28.1). Word Power was second, Some Kinda Beach was third and Evenin Of Pleasure took fourth.

Sunfire Blue Chip ($4.60), a son of American Ideal, emerged victorious for owners Christina Takter, John and Jim Fielding, Brixton Medical Ab and R A W Equine Inc. Jimmy Takter is the trained and Dave Palone sat in the bike.

It was lights out at the head of the stretch in elimination two, where Lonewolf Currier battled through fierce fractions with Sunshine Beach and digging in up until the wire to hold of closing Ultimate Beachboy and Vegas Vacation in 1:48.4.

Beach Memories launched from the far outside taking the lead early, Ultimate Beachboy followed him but took the pocket and Eddie Sweat paced into third. Lonewolf Currier was fourth heading to the quarter with Sunshine Beach behind him. Beach Memories went by the quarter in :26.2. John Campbell gave the cue to Lonewolf Currier, pulling first over and clearing the front passing the wire with a circuit remaining. Sunshine Beach tracked his move and was left to fight first over passing the half in :54.1 (:27.4).

The leaders sprinted down the backstretch with Sunshine Beach trying to clear the front from Lonewolf Currier. Beach Memories watched the battle unfold in third and Vegas Vacation gapped cover from Sunshine Beach in fourth. Sunshine Beach stuck his head in front at three-quarters in 1:20.3 (:26.2). His lead would come to a quick close as he began to gallop. Vegas Vacation was left first over at this point beginning his bid; Ultimate Beachboy dived to the passing lane closing fast. Lonewolf Currier held command, Ultimate Beachboy lunged one final time at the pylons to try and claim victory, but failed. Lonewolf Currier held on by a head in 1:48.3. Ultimate Beachboy settled for second, Vegas Vacation gave chase in third and Beach Memories completed the qualifying quartet.

Lonewolf Currier ($12.80), sired by The Panderosa, is owned by Fran Azur, trained by Kevin McDermott and was steered by John Campbell to a lifetime best of 1:48.3.

Destiny’s Chance Receives Redemption in Second Adioo Volo


WASHINGTON, PA— After four failed efforts against stakes company, Destiny’s Chance got the best of the field to win the second division of the Adioo Volo in 1:51.1. Marty Party was second and Real Touch was third.

Podges Lady took the lead around the first turn. Real Touch pulled the pocket and cleared the top at the quarter in :27.1.

Real Touch was the tempo setter at the half in :55.4 (:28.3). Destiny’s Chance came first over and applied pressure at the five-eighths. Marty Party followed cover and locked at the cones was Podges Lady. Real Touch lead by three-quarters in 1:23.1 (:27.2).

Into the stretch, Real Touch gave way to Destiny’s Chance on the outside. Podges Lady came up the passing lane and Marty Party was closing three wide. They did not have enough to catch Destiny’s Chance as she paced the mile in 1:51.1 (:28).

Destiny’s Chance is a three-year-old filly by Four Starzzz Shark out of the mare Four Starz Sands by The Panderosa. She is owned by Randy Ringer, trained by Ron Burke and Tony Hall was in the bike to score in 1:51.1.

International Action Hits Kentucky

On Friday, October 7, freshman trotters and pacers competed in the International Stallion Series at The Red Mile.

In the colt splits, Big Chocolate (Chocolatier), Possess The Will (Donato Hanover), From Above (Donato Hanover) and Magic Tonight (Andover Hall) were all victorious in one of the four splits.

Big Chocolate is owned by Richard Keys, trained by Homer Hochstetler and David Miller was in the sulky. Possess The Will is owned by Fashion Farms LLC, trained by Jim Campbell and driven by Tim Tetrick. From Above is owned by Jeff Snyder, M. Bolte, Greg Peck and Guida Racing Stables Inc. He is trained by Greg Peck and Brian Sears was in the bike. Magic Tonight is owned by Adam Victor and Son Stable, trained by Noel Daley and Ron Pierce was in the bike.

In the filly splits, Big Mcdeal (Mcardle), Economy Terror (Western Terror) and Rockaround Sue (Rocknroll Hanover) all won one of the three divisions of the International Stallion Series.

Big Mcdeal is owned by Jack Darling Stables, trained by John Darling and Jody Jamieson was in the sulky, equaling the world record in 1:50.2. Economy Terror is owned by Chuck Pompey, Howard Taylor and Edwin Gold. She is trained by Chris Oakes and Brian Sears was in the sulky. Rockaround Sue is owned by Uncirculated Stables, Alan Alber and Tony Alagna. She is trained by Tony Alagna and Brian Sears was in the sulky.

Indiana Features Grand Circuit Action

On Wednesday, August 24, 12 two-year-old trotting filly Breeders Crown eligibles competed in the $210,000 Kentuckiana at Indiana Downs. Indiana Downs also featured in the $215,000 Pride In Progress for free for all trotters, six of whom are Breeders Crown eligibles. Also on Wednesday, Pocono Downs featured the $239,786 Pennsylvania Sires Stakes for two-year-old colt pacers.

In the first Kentuckiana, Win Missy B (Conway Hall) won, with Aunt Mel (Yankee Glide) finishing second and Canadian Justice was third. “Justice” went for the lead, with “Missy” in second and On The Bright Side (Cantab Hall) in third. Quarentine S (Varenne) and Friendly Persuader (Muscles Yankee) both broke at the start. Missy came onto the outside and cleared the lead from Justice at the quarter in :29.

“Bright” came first over down the backstretch from third. Bright and Missy were neck to neck at the half in :57. (:28). They were 2 lengths ahead of Justice sitting in third. Around the far turn, Bright stuck her head in front of Missy and went off stride. Sterling Volo (Donato Hanover) broke in the back of the field. Missy trotted by three-quarters in 1:26.3 (:29.3).

Missy had the lead at the top of the stretch, Mel came onto the outside in second and Justice was in third. Missy and Mel dueled coming to the eighth pole, Justice dropped out of the race in third. Missy did not give up the lead and crossed the wire in 1:56.1 (:29.3). Aunt Mel finished second, Canadian Justice was third and Sterling Volo finished fourth.

In the second Kentuckiana, Chilitodayhotamale (Muscles Yankee) was vicotorious, with Dream On Hanover (Andover Hall) finished second and Personal Style (Yankee Glide) was third. Hope And Love (Muscles Yankee) and Blue Muscles (Muscles Yankee) both left for the lead, with “Dream” in third and “Personal” in fourth. Winning Sissy (Angus Hall) made a break at the gate. Muscles took the lead at the quarter in :27.4.

Down the backstretch, Muscles went on a break and “Love” inherited the lead. Dream came first over and cleared the front at the half in :57.2 (:29.3). Love was in second and Personal was in third. Around the far turn, Dream drew off by about 2 lengths. Love went on a break, so Personal took second and “Tamale” was in third. Dream had a 6 length lead at three-quarters in 1:26.2 (:29).

Dream was being narrowed in by Personal and Tamale at the top of the stretch. Personal circled out two wide and Tamale came out three wide. It was a three horse race to the wire at the eighth pole. Personal gave way, so Tamale and Dream dueled to the wire. Tamale under a hand ride won by 1 ¼ lengths in 1:56.2 (:30). Dream On Hanover was second and Personal Style was third. Blue Muscles, Hope And Love and Winning Sissy were fourth, fifth and seventh, respectively.  

In the Pride In Progress, Il Villaggio (Yankee Glide) won, with Hot Shot Blue Chip (Revenue S) finishing second and All Cantab (Cantab Hall) was third. Arch Madness (Balanced Image), “Cantab” and Lucky Jim (SJ’s Photo) all left the gate with speed. Rembrendt Spur (Pegasus Spur) went off stride at the start. Around the first turn, “Jim” went off stride. “Madness” had the front heading to the quarter. Cantab was in second and about 5 to 6 lengths back to “Shot” in third. Madness trotted the quarter in :26.3.

Madness had the lead at the half in :54.3 (:28). Shot was in third and “Villaggio” was in fourth. Around the far turn, Madness had the lead, with Cantab in second and Villaggio first over in third. Shot was buried at the inside in fourth. Villaggio cleared the lead at three-quarters in 1:23.1 (:28.3).

Villaggio was not challenged in the stretch. Madness was fading at the inside. Shot came on with late trot in second and Cantab was in third. Villaggio had a 4 ¼ lengths lead at the wire and trotted the mile in 1:53. Hot Shot Blue Chip finished second and All Cantab finished third. Arch Madness, Lucky Jim and Rembrendt Spur finished seventh, eighth and tenth, respectively.

In the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, seven two-year-old colt pacers are eligible for the Breeders Crown.

In the first division, All Week was victorious, with Mc Attaboy finishing second, Marytime Terror (Western Terror) finished third and Station Threeohsix (Western Terror) finished fourth. “Marytime” sat mid-pack and made no move. “Station” got cover from “Week” and faded to fourth.

In the second division, Easy Again held off Sweet Lou (Yankee Cruiser) to win, with Mudslide third and Hillbilly Hanover (Dragon Again) finished fourth. “Lou” cleared the lead with one lap to go, but got passed by “Again” and lost by a nose. “Hillbilly” had the lead at the quarter and got shuffled back. He made no move to finish fourth. Friday At Five (Real Desire) sat in sixth and was able to finish fifth.

In the final division, Star Recruit won, with Cold Heared Shark (Four Starzzz Shark) finished second, The Zachhammer was third and Acrylic Hanover (Dragon Again) finished fourth. “Shark” sat in sixth. He came first over at three-quarters and lost by a neck to Star Recruit. “Acrylic” sat in fifth. He picked up cover from Shark and finished fourth.
