The ‘Golden Boy’ Wins Back-to-Back Presidential Finals

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Golden Receiver made history Saturday night, where he became the second horse to win back-to-back Presidential finals in 1:49.3. Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Mr Hasani N and Golden Receiver gunned for the lead heading into the first turn. Fred And Ginger got away third and Dial Or Nodial was back in fourth. Mr Hasani N parked Golden Receiver by the quarter in :25.3. Golden Receiver retreated to second entering the backstretch and Fred And Ginger was sealing the gap in third. Approaching the half, Mr Hasani N made a break and forced Dial Or Nodial and Modern Legend to go wide down the backside. Dial Or Nodial came back and was up to Tetrick’s wheel at the half in :54.1 (:28.3).

Into the far turn, Golden Receiver led the way, with Dial Or Nodial battling in second. Fred And Ginger was locked in the pocket third and Modern Legend was rallying three wide in fourth. Golden Receiver took them by three-quarters in 1:22.4 (:28.3).

Golden Receiver led a bundled field into the stretch. Fred And Ginger found room up the rail and Dial Or Nodial was giving chase. Malak Uswaad N had tracked cover, but had no room to pace. Versado was closing down the far outside after sitting far off the pace. Entering the eighth pole, Golden Receiver kicked away from the field and won the Presidential final with ease in 1:49.3 (:26.4). Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Golden Receiver ($2.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick
guided the horse to a series-sweeping performance.

“After that first half, that’s pretty big into the wind like that, into the middle of the lane he kicked away from the field and simply amazed me,” driver Tim Tetrick said.
