EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— The Harder-trained free-for-all pacer
Golden Receiver took the field gate to wire to win the $30,000 Free For All
pace at the Meadowlands on Saturday, January 5 in 1:48.4.
Golden Receiver gunned for the lead, with Meirs Hanover
showing speed towards the inside and Special T Rocks wanted a spot from the far
outside. Golden Receiver led the field by the quarter in :26.4.
Special T Rocks fought on to try and take the top from
Golden Receiver, caught first over, but began to falter approaching the
half-mile pole. Dial Or Nodial was tracking his cover and was forced three
wide, while Silent Swing was keeping up with the trio on top at the half in
:54.4 (:28).
Into the far turn, Dial Or Nodial paced up to Golden
Receiver’s wheel, while Meirs Hanover drafted in the pocket third. Silent Swing
was attempting to start a rally at three-quarters in 1:23 (:28.1).
Golden Receiver had to fight off Dial Or Nodial and Meirs
Hanover swinging into the stretch. Dial Or Nodial began to flatten out entering
the eighth pole, while Meirs Hanover was keeping pace in third and Silent Swing
trying to catch up in fourth. Golden Receiver instantly kicked away from the
field and romped the field in 1:48.4 (:25.4). Meirs Hanover finished second,
Dial Or Nodial was third and Silent Swing finished fourth.
Golden Receiver ($3.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by
Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our
