The ‘Golden Boy’ Wins Back-to-Back Presidential Finals


EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Golden Receiver made history Saturday night, where he became the second horse to win back-to-back Presidential finals in 1:49.3. Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Mr Hasani N and Golden Receiver gunned for the lead heading into the first turn. Fred And Ginger got away third and Dial Or Nodial was back in fourth. Mr Hasani N parked Golden Receiver by the quarter in :25.3. Golden Receiver retreated to second entering the backstretch and Fred And Ginger was sealing the gap in third. Approaching the half, Mr Hasani N made a break and forced Dial Or Nodial and Modern Legend to go wide down the backside. Dial Or Nodial came back and was up to Tetrick’s wheel at the half in :54.1 (:28.3).

Into the far turn, Golden Receiver led the way, with Dial Or Nodial battling in second. Fred And Ginger was locked in the pocket third and Modern Legend was rallying three wide in fourth. Golden Receiver took them by three-quarters in 1:22.4 (:28.3).

Golden Receiver led a bundled field into the stretch. Fred And Ginger found room up the rail and Dial Or Nodial was giving chase. Malak Uswaad N had tracked cover, but had no room to pace. Versado was closing down the far outside after sitting far off the pace. Entering the eighth pole, Golden Receiver kicked away from the field and won the Presidential final with ease in 1:49.3 (:26.4). Fred And Ginger finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Versado finished fourth.

Golden Receiver ($2.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick
guided the horse to a series-sweeping performance.

“After that first half, that’s pretty big into the wind like that, into the middle of the lane he kicked away from the field and simply amazed me,” driver Tim Tetrick said.

Speedy Miles in First Preliminary of Presidential


EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Two divisions of Free-For-All pacing action kicked off the first leg of the Presidential series at the Meadowlands on Saturday, January 12. The January classic drew 13 pacers to the two $40,000 divisions.

Golden Receiver continues his bid for a Presidential repeat, taking the opening division gate to wire in 1:49, Fred And Ginger was second, Modern Legend was third and Malak Uswaad N was fourth.

Golden Receiver took the lead, with Modern Legend in the pocket second and Meirs Hanover settling into third. Golden Receiver led the field by the quarter in :26.3. No one challenged the leader, letting him squeeze in a breather of :55.2 (:28.4) at the half-mile.

Meirs Hanover lunged into attack mode, swinging first over into the far turn. Fred And Ginger tracked his cover and Modern Legend was locked in the box. Golden Receiver began to pick up the pace at three-quarters in 1:23 (:27.3).

Meirs Hanover began to quit heading down the stretch. Fred And Ginger fanned off cover and Modern Legend was stalling in third. Golden Receiver held all competition at bay, winning the first leg of the Presidential in 1:49 (:26). Fred And Ginger rallied for second, Modern Legend held on for third and Malak Uswaad N inherited the fourth spot. Abelard Hanover scratched out of the mile sick.

Versado pulled off the upset in the second division of the Presidential, winning his division in 1:49.4. Dial Or Nodial finished second, Mr Hasani N was third and Rockin The House was fourth.

Versado took the front from Rockin The House into the first turn. Nob Hill High got away third and Second Wind N got away fourth. Versado took them by the quarter in :26.2. Dial Or Nodial came first over from sixth passing the three-eighths. Mr Hasani N tracked his cover as they brushed by competition. Dial Or Nodial was first over in third at the half in :54.3 (:28.1).

Into the far turn, Dial Or Nodial inched up to Versado’s wheel, carrying Mr Hasani N and Annieswesterncard closer. Versado led at three-quarters in 1:22.3 (:28). Mr Hasani N fanned off cover and began to flatten out. Rockin The House was trying to pace up the inside and Dial Or Nodial was still chasing Versado. Versado and Dial Or Nodial were stride for stride entering the sixteenth pole and Versado nipped the favorite at the line in 1:49.4 (:27.1). Dial Or Nodial was second, Mr Hasani N was third and Rockin The House finished fourth.

Versado ($18.40) is a six-year-old gelding by Dragon Again, out of the mare Beach Jenny by Beach Towel. He is owned by Kdm Stables, trained by Nick Surick and Andy Miller was in the bike to score in 1:49.4.

Golden Receiver Sprints Home to Win Presidential Prep; Eyes Repeat in Series


EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— The Harder-trained free-for-all pacer Golden Receiver took the field gate to wire to win the $30,000 Free For All pace at the Meadowlands on Saturday, January 5 in 1:48.4.

Golden Receiver gunned for the lead, with Meirs Hanover showing speed towards the inside and Special T Rocks wanted a spot from the far outside. Golden Receiver led the field by the quarter in :26.4.

Special T Rocks fought on to try and take the top from Golden Receiver, caught first over, but began to falter approaching the half-mile pole. Dial Or Nodial was tracking his cover and was forced three wide, while Silent Swing was keeping up with the trio on top at the half in :54.4 (:28).

Into the far turn, Dial Or Nodial paced up to Golden Receiver’s wheel, while Meirs Hanover drafted in the pocket third. Silent Swing was attempting to start a rally at three-quarters in 1:23 (:28.1).

Golden Receiver had to fight off Dial Or Nodial and Meirs Hanover swinging into the stretch. Dial Or Nodial began to flatten out entering the eighth pole, while Meirs Hanover was keeping pace in third and Silent Swing trying to catch up in fourth. Golden Receiver instantly kicked away from the field and romped the field in 1:48.4 (:25.4). Meirs Hanover finished second, Dial Or Nodial was third and Silent Swing finished fourth.

Golden Receiver ($3.60) is an eight-year-old gelding by Village Jove, out of the mare Royal Gold by Towner’s Big Guy. He is owned by Our Horse Cents Stables, trained by Mark Harder and Tim Tetrick did the piloting, steering the veteran pacer to a 1:48.4 victory.

Out of the Free For All feature, Meirs Hanover, Dial Or Nodial, Abelard Hanover, Nob Hill High, Hypnotic Blue Chip and Special T Rocks are all eligible for the Presidential series. Annieswesterncard is also on the eligibility list, though scratched out of the feature.
