TRI’s Picks January 3 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 4, Races 7-10, Thursday, January 3, 2013

On Saturday, we had one winner, Sonic Raider ($20.60). By betting horses to win on the ticket that are 4-1 and up, we would be down $18 for the meet. Thursday’s ticket looks fairly promising, good luck!

$2 Play: 9/1,2,6/7,10/6 = $12

Analysis:

Race 7-
(9) Dragon King is a fairly good closer. In a race where there is plenty of speed form the inside, Miller will likely place his pacer in the middle of the pack and should find some cover to ride into the far turn. From there, he will have something left to close into the stretch.

Race 8- (1) El Bravo is coming off of a decent qualifier after taking a month off from racing. Before his layoff, he raced against conditioned claimers at Saratoga and did well, despite drawing the far outside posts. He gets post relief this week and should launch off the gate and have some say in the pace. (2) Michael’s Marvel has shown three valiant efforts against similar company at Harrah’s Philadelphia. His last start was his best, where from post 8 he was caught first over and challenged the leader until he quit. Before that, he had a win and a second against $10,000 Claimers. He draws post 2 this week, which should help him get a pocket trip and will have something left late. (6) Ccs Lover N is coming off of a strong 1:54.1 qualifier at the Meadowlands. In his last effort against $10,000 Claimers, he traveled a tough first over mile to finish second as the favorite. A short layoff should make this horse fresh and ready to race tonight.

Race 9-
(7) Jedrik Hanover is aggressive in every start. He can either stick with the pace and close into the stretch or sit off the pace and rush for home. There isn’t too much speed in this race, so expect him to leave and try to steal the mile. Either way, he’s going to give us a run for our money, as he will have something left into the stretch. (10) Get Chipped is a longshot play in our ticket. He has shown improvement since the addition of hopples were made in his equipment. He had trouble staying flat before the equipment change, but is coming off of a victory in his first race with hopples. He should attempt to take advantage of a slight closing bias at the Meadowlands, sit off of the pace and storm into the stretch like he did at Monticello against conditioned company.

Race 10- (6) Terror Rising has been a major menace against optional claimers at Saratoga during the winter. She drops into an easier company this week and will likely attempt to dictate the pace like she usually does. She won’t have much problems doing so, since there isn’t much pace in the race. Expect her to be a value bet as well.
