TRI’s Picks- July 2 Meadowlands

Meadowlands Racetrack Pick 5, Races 1-5, Pick 4, Races 6-9, Pick 6, Races 4-9, Saturday, July 2, 2011

Last ticket, we bagged two of four. I’m very happy that Showherthemoney was overlooked for her effort in this class. She got post relief and did what I expected, which was to compete with this group. I was happy with her payoff, too. She returned $72.80 to win. We also cashed in on the third leg with I Fought Dalaw, who returned $4.40. In the second leg, Great Emancipator had a first-over bid and finished 10th at 24-1. Cameron Chip came up the inside in the stretch and finished seventh at 12-1. In the last leg, Whatrugonnado dead-heated for fourth at 8-1. Tonight we encourage you that if one of our horses is a high price, play it to win, place, show, etc.

Pick 5

$1 Play: 47/4/17/2/67 = $8

Analysis:

Race 1- (4) Tilt Ya Kilt N is coming off a well-executed effort at 26-1. Before that, he tried to get to the top with a first-over journey but failed to provide any stamina in the final 1/16. His post may help him get positioning and pace a better mile than his most recent showcase. (7) Stormin Rustler was stuck two wide for the entire mile and still came up to finish second. After that race and now coming to a poor field, he may improve.

Race 2- (4) Mybrothergeorge has already faced the ranks of non-winners of one at the Meadowlands, exiting victorious. With the risk of being the public choice, he will still be an overlay.

Race 3- (1) Honky Tonk Woman has not shown what she is capable of yet. In this event, she may exploit what she can do. (7) Rocklamation has had some trouble this year. She had to be pulled up in the Fan Hanover. But afterwards she worked out well, came to the sires stakes and finished second to Pretty Katherine. She may race better this week.

Pick 6

$2 Play: 2/67/47/1/26/4 = $16

Analysis:

Race 4- After a valiant duel for the top, (2) Bolero Andrew faltered to third as the favorite in his most recent start. Before that, in higher company, he lost by a neck at 17-1. He may enjoy his inside post.

Race 5- (6) WH Skooter is an improving two-year-old. In a recent qualifier he paced the mile in an incredible 1:54.1 at Gaitway Farms. (7) Pet Rock is also looking better each race. He has won his last two qualifiers and is in the Virgil Morgan, Jr. stable for the first time.

Pick 4

$2 Play: 47/1/26/4 = $8

Analysis:

Race 6- (4) Best Magic is making a positive step up after his victory in non-winners of $6,500 last five. He may show some improvement yonight. (7) Bestnotlie Hanover has had two failed first-over attempts in his last two starts. He is making a slight step down and gets the 7 hole. He may get a better trip with the outside post and bring a price.

Race 7- (1) Bettor Again showed the public that he is not ready for higher company. In this company, he came first over and still gained at the wire, but finished second by ¾ length.

Race 8- (2) Coreleone Kosmos gets in to trouble often. He comes out of an Open and was hung in that event. He could go trouble-free here. (6) Arch Madness is the one to beat. He is coming off of an impressive effort in the prep.

Race 9- (4) Tyler Hanover fought better company in the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes at Pocono in his most recent start. He has done well in the Survivor Series and may blow our minds in the final.
