Precocious Beauty Suffers Defeat in Crown Elims

WILKES-BARRE, PA— Two eliminations for the Breeders Crown two-year-old filly pace were held on the Friday night race card at Pocono Downs.

The current division leader, Precocious Beauty, suffered defeat via the passing lane, as Allstar Rating sat a perfect trip and picked up the last few pieces to win her Breeders Crown elimination in a track and world record of 1:50.1.

Act Now got the lead, while Allstar Rating was first over moving for command and Quick Thrill was racing in third. Precocious Beauty was in fourth at the quarter in :26.3. Allstar Rating cleared the lead just passed the quarter, while Precocious Beauty edged out of the fourth and brushed her way to the front passed three-eighths. She led the field by the half in :54 (:27.2).

Uffizi Hanover was flushed first over on the march to three-quarters. Jk Molly picked up her cover second over and Rockingcam Park was third over. Precocious Beauty appeared to be tiring as she was clinging to command at three-quarters in 1:22.2 (:28.2).

Precocious Beauty was slightly drifting into the stretch. Allstar Rating sat a pocket trip and took her shot at the division leader through the passing lane. Allstar Rating was coming fast at Precocious Beauty and managed to get her nose in front of the game filly to win in a 1:50.1 (:27.4). Precocious Beauty finished second, Act Now was third and Uffizi Hanover finished fourth.

Allstar Rating ($13.20) is a two-year-old filly by Four Starzzz Shark, out of the mare Credit Rating by Western Hanover. She is owned by Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi and JJK Stables, trained by Ron Burke and Yannick Gingras was in the bike.

“From the first time I saw her racing at Indiana, she raced really game that night,” driver Yannick Gingras said. “I raced her a couple of times at Lexington and she has progressed very nicely.”

Asked about the late start to her campaign, Gingras said that “I’m not exactly sure what it was [the issue], it was something minor, but she was ready. She qualified early in the spring and then in early summer and something happened, it was nothing major. It’s sometimes the best thing that can happen, let her grow a little bit and she developed into a nice filly.”

“I was confident [coming into the race], I didn’t know if I could beat Precocious Beauty, she’s a special filly. I really liked her [Allstar Rating]. Me and Ronnie [Burke] talked about her yesterday and I thought she was better than Southwind Silence. Ronnie’s like ‘Well, I don’t know about that.’ We weren’t agreeing on it. She’s only had five lifetime starts, a mile in 1:50. I see she’s going to grow up from here.”

Gallie Bythe Beach held command for every call, holding off a pocket-sitting Southwind Silence to take the first elimination in 1:50.3.

Gallie Bythe Beach got the lead, while Southwind Silence tucked into the pocket and Ali Blue was wide in third. Beach Body was racing fourth as Gallie Bythe Beach led passed the quarter in :26.1. She was unscathed to the half, yet cutting that fraction in :54.2 (:28.1).

Gallie Bythe Beach continued down the backstretch unchallenged. Ali Blue was flushed first over by She’s Da Bomb, as she appeared flat heading to three-quarters. Gallie Bythe Beach led by that station in 1:22.1 (:27.4).

Into the lane, Gallie Bythe Beach had one foe remaining, Southwind Silence. Matt Kakaley sent her to the passing lane and began trying to make her way in front. Gallie Bythe Beach was game in this mile and held her off until the wire to win by a head in 1:50.3 (:28.2). Southwind Silence finished second, Ali Blue was third and Beach Body finished fourth.

Gallie Bythe Beach ($7.80) is a two-year-old filly by Somebeachsomewhere, out of the mare Galleria by Artsplace. She is owned by Fashion Farms LLC, trained by Jim Campbell and John Campbell was in the bike.

“This is a speed track and I wanted to be in front,” driver John Campbell said.
