Word Power winning at the Meadowlands

Sunfire Blue Chip is the one to beat in the first elimination. He set fast fractions on a sloppy going in the Max Hempt Final, coming a half-length short to division-leader Captaintreacherous. From the far outside, Word Power will look for the right trip to win this elim. He has paced two grueling first over miles in his last two starts, with his most recent mile being the most impressive. A majority of horses to his inside have gate speed, so he may have to leave hard to get a good spot. He will be able to compensate for that, as he should be stronger than his attempt in the Hempt due to a two-week layoff.

The only horse that could come close to beating Captaintreacherous this year, Vegas Vacation, will share favoritism with Sunshine Beach in elimination two. In between them is Resistance Futile, who has been showing tremendous improvement in his last three starts. He draws towards the rail this week, giving him the ability to easily be placed near the top and pursuit for the lead late.
