Freshman Pacers Featured at Freehold

On Saturday afternoon, Sept. 10, Freehold Raceway featured the $104,500 Lou Babic and the $60,500 Lou Babic filly for two-year-old pacers.

In the Lou Babic, Little Michael B got room in the stretch to win, with All Steinam (Tell All) finishing second and Verdad finished third. “Steinam” and Bullet Bob both left the gate with speed heading to the clubhouse turn. Steinam and “Bullet” dueled for the lead at the quarter in :28. “Michael” sat in third and Handsome Henry K (Western Ideal) was in fourth.

Steinam still lead the way as the pacers came into the stretch first time. Bullet was to Steinam’s outside in second and Michael was in third. Verdad came second over in fourth and “Henry” got shuffled back into fifth. Steinam lead them to the half in :57.2 (:29.2).

They went down the backstretch the final time and Steinam was still in front. Bullet was faltering first over and Verdad came three wide. Verdad was wheel to wheel with Steinam heading to three-quarters. Michael sat behind in third and Divulge (Tell All) got cover from Verdad. Steinam and Verdad dueled to three-quarters in 1:26.3 (:29.1).

Divulge came three wide to challenge Verdad and Steinam as they turned for home. Michael came up the passing lane and moved into third. Steinam was able to hold off Michael until the 1/16 pole, where Michael got his head in front and won by a ½ length. All Steinam was second and Verdad was third.

Narragansett (Rocknroll Hanover) finished fourth. Handsome Henry K, Divulge and Mortal Zin (Rocknroll Hanover) finished off the board.

In the Lou Babic Filly, Clear View Hanover won, with My Ideal Hanover finishing second and My Deal was third. There was only one eligible, Regal Rock (Rocknroll Hanover). She finished seventh of the octet.
