Fillies fight in Currier & Ives

On Wednesday, June 8, 10 Hambletonian Oaks eligibles went to the gate in the $120,000 Currier & Ives at The Meadows.

In the first division, Celebrity Katie (SJ’s Caviar) won it, over Lady Ridge (Tom Ridge) and Backstreet Hanover for third. Pacific Splash (American Winner) took the lead, while “Celebrity” and “Lady” sat mid-pack and Too Busy To Care was far back. “Pacific” gave way at the three-eighths, while Celebrity came second over. Lady was sitting at the inside still.Celebrity drew off in the stretch by 5 lengths, with Lady sitting second.

In the second division, non-eligibles took it easily. Lady Andover (Andover Hall) broke at the quarter, while Cheetah Hall (Tom Ridge) and Hot Off The Press (Cantab Hall) sat far back. “Hot” came first over at the three-eighths and “Cheetah” sat at the rail. Both of them never got up to the top four.

In the last division, it was I’m A Centerfold at 15-1, over Pantholops (Andover Hall) and Linnea P was third. Pantholops took the front and was caught at the three-eighths, around the time Pay Me Sister broke. Then Bold And Fresh (SJ’s Caviar) broke at the five-eighths and Pantholops was boxed in third. She came through the passing lane and couldn’t catch I’m A Centerfold.
