High Noon went for the lead, with Rockabille on the outside in second. Coming to the eighth pole, Rockabille went off stride. “Noon” was in front by 2 lengths, going a quarter in :26. Pan From Nantucket was sitting in second and “Westwardho” was in third. They went by the three-eighths and “Nantucket” went off stride.
Noon still had command, with Something For Doc applying pressure in second. “Westwardho” sat behind in third and Feel Like A Fool was in fourth. “Doc” quit coming to three-quarters and Noon still had the lead.
They came into the stretch and “Feel” circled out three wide, with Westwardho came two wide. Noon was ahead by about 2 lengths approaching the wire and Feel was not able to catch. Feel settled for second, Westwardho gave way in third and Doc finished fourth.
“He has been racing tough against tough horses,” trainer Jimmy Takter said. “I’ve been very happy with his performance.”
High Noon won in 1:51, a lifetime mark. He returned $5.80 to win.
