EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ— Major Look and Andy Miller paced right
by American Jewel after a pocket trip to win the $190,850 Mistletoe Shalee
final in 1:49.3. Bettor B Lucky was third and Shelliscape was fourth.
Coming off the gate, Bettor B Lucky went to take the lead,
with Major Look and American Jewel. Pirouette Hanover tried to pace with them,
but broke banking into the first turn. Major Look brushed by Bettor B Lucky to
take the front through a :26.4 opening quarter.
Past the three-eighths, American Jewel came first over and
cleared the top. She took them by the half in :54.2 (:27.3). Angel Scent was
flushed first over from third, supplying cover to Shelliscape.
American Jewel led the field by three-quarters in 1:22.1
(:27.4). Major Look came off the cones and challenged with Bettor B Lucky, who
found racing room. Shelliscape fanned off cover and was closing. American Jewel
was buried between Bettor B Lucky and Major Look and gave way. So Major Look held
off a 24-1 Bettor B Lucky to win the Mistletoe Shalee in 1:49.3 (:27.2).
American Jewel was second, Bettor B Lucky was third and Shelliscape was fourth.
Major Look is a three-year-old filly by Art Major out of the
mare Band Of Emeralds by Jate Lobell. She is owned by Joe Balkunas, Mark
Giordano and Anthony Pancella, trained by Kevin Mc Dermott and Andy Miller was
in the bike.
