Bolt The Duer Paces World Record Mile in Adios Upset

WASHINGTON, PA— Bolt The Duer took advantage of the fast fractions set by A Rocknroll Dance and came up the passing lane to win the 46th edition of the $500,000 Delvin Miller Adios. A Rocknroll Dance was second and Breakin The Law was third.

A Rocknroll Dance took the front in :25.1 (A world record opening quarter on a five-eighths). Sweet Lou popped the pocket from fourth and challenged A Rocknroll Dance approaching the half. Bolt The Duer was at the cones third and Bettor’s Edge was second over. A Rocknroll Dance paced the half in :52.4 (:27.3; world record half on a five-eighths).

Down the backstretch, A Rocknroll Dance was still under the pressure of Sweet Lou. Bolt The Duer kept up in third and Bettor’s Edge was second over in fourth. Thinking Out Loud started his closing bid at three-quarters in 1:19.2 (:26.3; world record three-quarters on a five-eighths mile).

Into the stretch, Sweet Lou faltered first over and Bettor’s Edge, along with Thinking Out Loud, fanned off cover. A Rocknroll Dance lead by a length and Bolt The Duer was closing up the passing lane. A Rocknroll Dance gave all he can to hold him off, but Bolt The Duer saved ground and cut the fractions to upset in the Adios. A Rocknroll Dance was second, Breakin The Law was a closing third and Sweet Lou held on for fourth.

Bolt The Duer is a three-year-old colt pacer by Ponder out of the mare Wonderbolt by Artsplace. He is owned by All Star Racing, trained by Peter Foley and Mark MacDonald was in the bike to win his first Adios on his first drive.
