In
the first elimination, Foiled Again (Dragon Again) won, with Clear Vision
(Western Hanover) finishing second and Mainland Key N was third. “Foiled” and “Mainland”
both went for the lead approaching the backstretch. Foiled cleared the lead at
the 3/16 and took them by the quarter in :27.4. Mainland was in second, “Clear”
was in third, Go Go Solano was in fourth and Summer Camp (Rocknroll Hanover)
was fifth and last around the far turn.
Foiled
had the lead approaching the half mile, with Mainland at the rail in second and
Clear came first over in third. “Solano” was second over in fourth and “Camp”
trailed them all. Foiled lead them to the half in :57 (:29.1).
Foiled
and Clear dueled heading to three quarters, with Mainland buried at the rail in
third and Solano moving into fourth. Camp came third over in the back. Foiled
lead them to three-quarters in 1:24.3.
Into
the stretch, Foiled had the lead, with Clear in second and Mainland in third.
Foiled was under a hand drive by Yannick Gingras. Clear was on the outside in
second and Mainland was holding on for third. Foiled Again crossed the line
first. Clear Vision finished second, Mainland Key N was third and Go Go Solano
finished fourth. Those four proceed to the final next week.
Foiled
Again is owned by Burke Racing Stables LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and JJK Stables
LLC. He is trained by Ron Burke and Yannick Gingras drove him to a 1:51.2
victory.
“He’s
unbelievably sharp right now.” Yannick Gingras said. “This might be the
sharpest he’s been.”
In
the second elimination, Atochia (Dragon Again) won, with Pangiorno finishing
second and Giddy Up Lucky (Camluck) was third. Pangiorno went for the lead,
with Atochia moving into second and Real Nice settling in third. Pangiorno took
them to the quarter in :27.2. Atochia was in second, “Nice” was in third, “Lucky”
was in fourth and “Art” was in fifth.
Pangiorno
was untouched by the half in :56.1 (:28.4). Atochia stalked him in second and Lucky
was first over in third. Nice was at the rail in fourth and Hypnotic Blue Chip
(Art Major) was second over in fifth.
Pangiorno
still had the lead at three-quarters in 1:23.4 (:27.3). Atochia and Lucky
dueled behind him and “Hypnotic” moved into third.
Into
the stretch, Pangiorno had the lead and Atochia came up the passing lane and
took the lead with lightning speed. He was clear from there and went on to win.
Pangiorno finished second, Giddy Up Lucky was third and Hypnotic Blue Chip
finished fourth. Those four progress to the final next week.
